PowerISO Free Download
PowerISO
It is a personal computer software application used to create, open, mount and emulate, compress, encrypt, and otherwise manipulate CD and DVD image files. It uses a proprietary disc image format, DAA, and
supports other formats including ISO, BIN, NRG, and CDI. PowerISO is able to modify all supported CD
images formats. PowerISO can create image files of up to 256GB; the
free-of-charge trial version supports the same features, but cannot create or
edit images greater than 300 megabytes.[3]
Features
Power
ISO can create, edit or convert ISO image files or extract their contents.
PowerISO can convert almost all image file formats to ISO image. It can also
make bootable ISO file and floppy disk images.
Existing images can be mounted on
PowerISO's internal virtual drive and used like an ordinary disc.
PowerISO can save DAA images, which add the following features
that are absent in ISO (but can be obtained by manually compressing ISO files):
·
Can compress DAA images,
thus saving space and allowing smaller downloads
·
Can password protect
DAA images
·
Can split DAA images
into multiple smaller files
Direct Access Archive
,
or DAA, is a proprietary file format developed by PowerISO
Computing for disk image files.
The format supports features such as compression, password protection, and
splitting to multiple volumes. Popular disk image mounting programs such as Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools currently do not support the
mounting of DAA images.
Currently there is no published information about the format.
Among mainstream applications, it can be opened or converted with PowerISO and MagicISO. Various free open source packages
are also available to convert DAA to ISO images.
Conversion tools
PowerISO provides
free command-line tools for Linux and Mac OS X which allow the user to extract
DAA files or convert them into ISO format,
however these tools haven't been updated to support the newest version of the
DAA format. The PowerISO Windows trial version only supports
converting images from DAA files up to 300MB, less than half of the capacity of a standard CD.
AcetoneISO is a free CD/DVD management application
for Linux that can convert DAA to ISO with the help of the external PowerISO
command-line tool for Linux.
daa2iso is an open source command line application has been
developed to convert DAA files to ISO files. The program comes with a Windows
binary and source code which compiles under Unix-like operating systems. daa2iso
allows users to select the .daa file, and the location for the .iso output via
standard windows open and save dialogs.
For Mac OS X, DAA Converter is a GUI application which wraps the daa2iso command-line
tool (GNU license).
System requirements

History
Versions
Command line RAR and UNRAR were first released
in autumn 1993.
·
Early development
version WinRAR 1.54b was released in 1995 as 16-bit Windows 3.x application.
·
Version 2.00 was
released on September 6, 1996.
·
Since version 3.00
(May 2002), the new RAR3 archive format is implemented. The new
compressed archives cannot be managed by old versions of WinRAR.
·
Since version 3.41
(December 2004), WinRAR adds support for Linux .Z archives like GZIP and BZIP2.
New options include storing entire file paths and restoring compressed NTFS
files.
·
Since version 3.50
(August 2005), WinRAR adds support for interface skins and themes and support Windows XP x64.
·
Since version 3.60
(August 2006), WinRAR includes a multithreaded version
of the compression algorithm, which improves compression speed on systems with multiple, dual-core, or Hyper-threading-enabled CPUs.
·
Since version 3.70
(circa January 2007), WinRAR features support for Windows Vista.
·
Since version 3.80
(September 2008), support for ZIP archives, which contain Unicode file names in UTF-8.

Since version 3.90
(May 2009), WinRAR adds support Windows x64 natively
and support Windows 7. Also it
enhanced support for multithreading
·
Version 3.91 is the
last version that supports Valencian.

Version 3.92 is the
last version that supports Serbian Cyrillic and Serbian Latin.
·
Version 4.00 (March
2011) speeds up decompression by up to 30%. Windows 98, Windows Me, and Windows NT are no longer supported; the
minimum Windows version required is Windows 2000.
·
Since version 4.10
(January 2012) WinRAR removes all ZIP limitations now allowing unlimited number
of files and archive size. WinRAR now also allows to create multivolume ZIP
files. ZIP archives now include Unicode file names.
·
Since version 4.20
(June 2012) Compression speed in SMP mode
has been increased significantly, but this improvement was made at the expense
of increased memory usage. ZIP compression now uses SMP as well. The default
SMP mode cannot handle text; text compression is significantly worse unless
additional switches are used. Also, Windows 2000 compatibility was removed.
·
Since version 5.00
(September 2013) the new RAR5 archive format is implemented. The new compressed
archives cannot be managed by old versions of WinRAR. This new format features

Freemake Video
Converter
It is a freemium entry-level video editing app (in spite of its name) developed by Ellora Assets Corporation. The
program can be used to convert between video
formats, rip video DVDs, create photo slide shows and music visualizations. It can also burn compatible video streams to DVD or Blu-ray Discs or upload them directly to YouTube.
Features
In spite of its name, Freemake Video Converter is an entry-level video editing app. It can perform simple non-linear video editing tasks, such as cutting, rotating, flipping, and combining multiple videos into one file with transition effects. It can also create photo slide shows with background music. Users are then able to upload these videos to YouTube.
Freemake Video Converter can read the majority of video, audio, and image formats, and outputs to AVI, MP4, WMV, Matroska,FLV, SWF, 3GP, DVD, Blu-ray, MPEG and MP3. The software is able to perform DVD burning and is able to convert videos, photographs, and music into DVD video.
The user interface is based on Windows Presentation Foundation technology. Freemake Video Converter supports NVIDIA CUDA technology for H.264 video encoding (starting with version 1.2.0)
Important updates
Freemake
Video Converter 2.0 was a major update which integrated two new functions: ripping video
from online portals and Blu-ray Disc creation and burning. Version 2.1 implemented suggestions
from users, including support for subtitles, ISO image creation,
and DVD to DVD/Blu-ray conversion. With
version 2.3 (earlier 2.2 Beta), support for DXVA has been added to accelerate conversion
(up to 50% for HD content).Version
3.0 added HTML5 video creation support and new presets
for smartphones.
Version 4.0 (introduced in April 2013) added a freemium "Gold Pack" of extra features that can be added if a "donation" is paid. Starting with version 4.0.4, released on 27 August 2013, the program adds a promotional watermark at the end of every video longer than 5 minutes unless Gold Pack is activated.
Licensing issues
FFmpeg has
added Freemake Video Converter v1.3 to its Hall
of Shame. An issue tracker entry for this product,
opened on 16 December 2010, says it is in violation of GNU General
Public License as it
is distributing components of FFmpeg project without including due credit.
Ellora Assets Corporation has not responded yet.
Bundled software from sponsors
Since version 4.0, Freemake Video Converter's installer includes a potentially unwanted search toolbar from Conduit as well as SweetPacks malware. Although users can decline the software during install, the opt-out option is rendered in gray which could mistakenly give the impression that it's disabled.
